Raena Jamila Harwell (aka Osizwe Eyi di yiye) is a doctoral student in African American Studies and Women’s Studies.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Spelman College and the Master’s degree in Urban Teacher Leadership at Georgia State University.  Prior to enrolling at Temple, Osizwe served the Atlanta Public Schools for 5 years as a teacher-leader at Walter White Elementary. Her interests include African centered/culturally relevant pedagogy, education and socialization, gender and sexuality studies, African aesthetics & spirituality, and literature.

Osizwe currently serves as Co-Chair of AYA African American Studies Graduate Students in Temple’s African-American Studies department where she also teaches undergraduate courses and works on various committees and projects.  She is a native of Buffalo, New York.
