Michele L. Louro is a doctoral student of History at Temple University where she studies under Howard Spodek, Richard Immerman, and Lynn Lees of the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently conducting research for her dissertation on Jawaharlal Nehru, the prominent Indian nationalist leader and first Prime Minister of India, and his role in colonial and postcolonial world politics. She is particularly interested in Nehru's participation in the League against Imperialism, established during an international conference in Brussels in February of 1927, which brought together high profile nationalist leaders from Asia, Africa, and Latin America with socialist and communist sympathizers from the West. Her dissertation will examine the League as a vehicle for greater contact and interconnectivity between Nehru and many other anti-colonial leaders around the world. She also co-authored an article in the Spring 2007 edition of Education About Asia entitled, "India in the World; The World in India, 1450-1770."
