Brooke Bocast
CHAT Graduate Associate
Brooke is a PhD student in the Anthropology Department. She holds a BA in Anthropology from Oberlin College and a MA in Anthropology from Brown University. Her research is in the field of visual anthropology and her dissertation concerns Jewish women’s experiences with cosmetic surgery in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This research explores linkages between transnational media, aesthetics, and sensory experience. Brooke’s work combines traditional social science methods with ethnographic photography to explore the role of the visual in the creation of popular discourse. |
