The Graduate Associates Program
The Graduate Associates Program provides a forum for graduate students to pursue their research or creative activity in an interdisciplinary context. Associates are full participants in the year-long Fellows Seminar at CHAT, in which they present part of their research for discussion and critique by and interdisciplinary group of graduate students and faculty. Discussion are always lively.
Associates also receive a $500 award that may be used for their research, including travel to conferences and archives. In addition, the Center provides Associates with a programming budget for a year end conference or workshop.
Eligibility
CHAT’s expectation is that the majority of Graduate Associates will be enrolled in Ph.D. programs, but M.A. students may also apply. Regardless of the degree sought, Graduate Associates must be in at least the third year of his or her program of study during their tenure at the Center. Associates may apply to any other CHAT fellowship during the course of the year.
Application
Application materials should be submitted as an email attachment to Peter Logan, Director of CHAT, at chat@temple.edu. Materials include
- a letter of application which addresses the expected benefits of the associateship,
- an abstract of proposed research or creative activity for the year of the associateship,
- a current C.V.
- Applicants should also arrange for a faculty member familiar with his/her research interests to email a confidential letter of reference to the Director at the same address. The subject line on all emails should indicate the program and the applicant's name.
Questions regarding eligibility or any other aspect of the Graduate Associate program should be addressed to Peter Logan, Director of the Center, peter.logan@temple.edu.
