Faculty Fellowship for 2010-11

Deadline November 2, 2009

Full application information (pdf)

The Center for the Humanities offers four Faculty Fellowships for the year 2009-2010. Recipients receive a one-course teaching reduction and a $1000 research budget. They participate monthly in the CHAT Fellows Seminar, where they present part of their manuscript for discussion and critique. Fellows also give a public presentation of their research and contribute to the activities of the Center during the year.

At least one fellowship is designated for junior faculty.

Eligibility and Application

All full-time Temple faculty working on projects in the humanities or the humanistic social sciences are invited to apply. Applications are evaluated solely on the merits of the proposed project. Members of an interdisciplinary committee of faculty assess each proposal. As such, your proposal's ability to communicate the value of your research project to people outside of your home discipline is key.

Please forward the following materials to CHAT by the deadline above:

  • Cover letter identifying the fellowship you are applying for
  • Statement of proposed research (4-8 pages double-spaced) describing the broader research project, the research planned for the fellowship year, the work's interdisciplinary perspective, the intended venue for publication, and a timeline for completion of the project.
  • Current C.V. (no more than five pages).
  • Letter from your department chair assessing your proposal and indicating that the course release will not adversely affect the department's undergraduate offerings.

Electronic submission is preferred. Please forward all materials to chat@temple.edu. Hard copies may be forwarded to:
