Scott R. Stroud is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Philosophy at Temple University. He received an M.A. in Philosophy from San José State University in 2002 and an M.A. in Communication from the University of the Pacific in 2000.

Scott’s research interests include aesthetics, ethics, and pragmatism, along with comparative philosophy. He is currently writing a dissertation that explores how the work of John Dewey can be used to build a theory of how aesthetic experience is morally cultivating. In the spring he will be teaching a course for the Center that focuses on the connections that can be made between pragmatist aesthetics and eastern religious/philosophical traditions.
