Robert Main is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Philosophy, concentrating on Aesthetics and the Philosophy of Language and Culture. Originally from Washington State, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and Philosophy from the University of Washington, Seattle.

Robert’s current research focuses on religious fundamentalism in the United States, particularly as an interpretive tradition central to which is an extreme form of literalism. While the core (i.e. philosophical) orientation of this project centers primarily on the semantics and structure of fundamentalism (e.g. assumptions about meaning, reference and intention that are inherent within the system), it also addresses the influence such doctrines have on many of the most pressing and controversial political and ethical concerns presently occupying the United States (e.g. homosexual marriage, abortion, the “war on terrorism,” etc.).
