She was from mainland China (P.R.C.). She earned her M.A. in Criminal Justice from Temple. She is now working on her dissertation research, which is concerned with the investigation of Chinese underground banks located in Chinatown, NYC and attempts to explore the relationship between this informal financial system and Chinese illegal migration and human smuggling.
