Augusto Lorenzino

Augusto Lorenzino is the author of two books in the field of pidgin and creole languages: Angolar Creole Portuguese: its description and sociolinguistics history (1999) and The morphosyntax of Spanish-lexified Creoles (2002). In addition, he has published articles on urban migration and language identity in Quechua-Spanish bilinguals in Argentina.
He received a Ph.D. in linguistics from the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Aside from teaching courses in Spanish and Portuguese language, he teaches graduate seminars in contact linguistics, second language acquisition and Hispanic dialectology.
Lorenzino was a visiting fellow of the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores at the Universidad de Extremadura (Spain, 2005) and research fellow at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Portugal, 2003).
