Create more online classes! I am a transfer student from community college of Philadelphia and was able
to complete most of my classes online. I was very dissapointed when i got to Temple and realized that
wasn`t much of an option. It will help cut costs across the board.

Suggestion
Curtail ordering unnecessary supply items from Alpha/Staples.
Filler
Suggestion
Temple needs more online classes which will save cost on energy.

My suggestion is: Put Student teacher supervisory evaluations that must be filled out four times for each
student teacher on line also the state forms that must be filled out twice for each semesteron line-would
save paper, mailing them from Temple to us and back to Temple student teacher office twice per year.
Did mention this last year to no avail-all our other forms are on line.

Suggestion
Do away with all the curricular activities and all the sponsored talks/meetings. I find that not only are the
topics not all that applicable/interesting, but the food provided is a huge waste of resources. And also all
the student activities can be drastically cut. Why am I paying for some random student to play indoor
tennis when I only want to learn my subjects? The fees we pay for these activities are grossly
disproportionate to what the average student receives in return.

Suggestion
Offer more online courses. The community colleges in the surrounding area have a far more developed
system for online courses with a much wider array of choices. This will eliminate need for classrooms,
paper, and will help our environment in addition to cutting costs.

Suggestion
some of the finance classes teach the same things

As a new adjunct faculty member, I would like to suggest you encourage professors to use blackboard for
EVERYTHING. You can almost elminate copying documents if you scan originals and upload them, or
post documents and links on blackboard. It`s new to me - but I found I no longer have to copy materials
for class and that`s a huge savings in photo copying.

Suggestion
Cut costs....for books and supplies. Reuse books from year to year.

We could create "technology teams" which specialize in specific areas, or teams that are made of or
several specialities, e.g. one that specializes in business applications, another in science applications,
another in arts and media application, etc. We could then deal with the appropriate team in planning
projects which then could be scheduled with technicians who are ahead of the curve in the area and
faculty could be "in a cue" knowing when that team would be available and dedicated to a specific project.

A lot of money is spent every day providing faculty and staff with whiteboard markers. Each day they
are left open and must be thrown out, or are found missing in the classrooms from users taking them with
them. Each department should issue one multi-box per faculty member per semester and if they lose
them, they must replace them. One box of 4 per faculty member is still cheaper than large numbers of
markers replaced in each classroom per building per day, and they really are not cheap and it really adds
up over time.
Filler
Suggestion
Expand class size. Although Temple uses the small teacher to student ratio as one of the pros in attending
TUJ, I have found that I would appreciate having more student in all my classes. This will also help
students meet more people and also get exposed to more educational opinions during class discussions.

Suggestion
If this school wants to improve efficiency, allocate money towards getting the best teachers possible.
The job of the school is to educate and the better the teachers, the better the school. A ridiculous amount
of money is allocated to services and facilities that this school does not need. While a nice building may
look better for brochures, it bears no weight on the actual performance of the school and that is why this
school is not among the best in the nation, no matter what a brochure says.

Suggestion
stop using paper sylabi
Filler
Suggestion
stop selling books in the book store and resort to ebooks online.
Filler
Advising
Suggestion
Keep an easy-to-access checklist for each program`s requirements on the TU website, and this eliminates
the need for paper copies of the requirements. It also frees up time for advisors to go and teach, do
research, or attend conferences, instead of having to meet with students over simple lists of
requirements...

Suggestion
I think all semester classes should be listed online to look at with descriptions from each school kind of
like an on-line course booklet.

Books
Suggestion
eBooks. Someone has to step forward and be the first to usher higher education into the digital age of
eBooks for textbooks. It`s amazingly sad that students will easily spend $500 per semester in 20 pounds
of books which they will then attempt to sell back 16 weeks later, for less than $100. As we enter the
Second Great Depression, or Greater Depression if you will, that kind of burden on the students is
daunting. Also, the burden of staffing Temple`s bookstore would also be greatly relieved as eBooks can be
digitally distributed, and there would be no need to over-staff the bookstore with extra workers, extra
hours, extra security, etc.eBooks would also cost less to the students, allowing them to buy more Temple
shirts, bags, keychains, etc.And backpacks would no longer weigh 40 pounds.

Suggestion
STOP CHANGING TEXTBOOKS EVERY SEMESTER!!!!!!
Filler
Suggestion
Stop charging student $200 for each book and develop more online learning tools
Filler
Suggestion
Only second hand books. Teachers do not need to assign new textbook editions every term. Save
students money and save some more trees. Have teachers supplement with articles or short readings.
Filler
Online
Suggestion
stop printing and handing out 16 page syllabi.really... at the first semester we know the rules...we`re not
stupid... we are in university...
Filler
Suggestion
a graduation checklist on owlnet
Filler
Suggestion
Make tuition remission form submission and processing electronic less paperwork and hassle for both
students and university personnel. In this day and age, copying letters and forms in triplicate and then
running them from one building to another to another is ridiculous and wasteful. I`m certain there are a
host of other paperwork processes that could also be made electronic and would save a great deal on
paper costs alone.
Filler
Suggestion
have more professors to do assignments online on computer than on paper.. so that way.. we will save
more paper
Filler
Suggestion
My Community college had more online courses than a huge university like Temple. Temple needs more
online course offerings, which will cut overhead immeasurably.
Filler
Suggestion
Have students do course evaluations online instead of on paper.
Filler
Suggestion
all essays and papers should be handed in via email to save paper
Filler
Suggestion
mandate professors to use blackboard and online texts to eliminate the need for excess paper use.also
make all assignments due via digital dropbox or email so the paper use will decrease for students using
the tech center and so forth.
Filler
Suggestion
Reduce paper by having student handouts uploaded to Blackboard instead of printing
Filler
Suggestion
Write out detailed instructions for faculty re: how to use Course Reserves via the Library, and
(alternatively) and how to put readings on Blackboard. Email those instructions to the departments and
ask them to distribute the document to faculty. This would cut down on copying costs. I think that many
faculty members make copies because they are not good at technology and aren`t even good at looking
up how to do things online. A clear, detailed description from their department might be the thing they
need.
Filler
Suggestion
Start giving assignments and submitting them via email so that we aren`t wasting paper.
Filler
Scheduling
Suggestion
Registration would be easier if classes could be filtered by professor and time slot.
Filler
Suggestion
Have an online PDF schedule of courses that has course descriptions.
Filler
Suggestion
DARS system should be upgraded to show the direct classes needed to graduate from Temple and
classes should be maintain in manner so all the students should be able to take particular course in any
given semester.
Filler
Suggestion
Do not have classes which are scheduled three days a week. Instead, cut down to two days a week and a
longer period. This will not only save on gas/time/electricity for the student, but will help teachers as well.
