Facilities
Filler
Suggestion
More bike racks around the campus so i dont have to lock it to the fence outside the library.
Filler
Suggestion
i know that the ping pong game room floor 5 south side of 1300 dorm doesnt need to be waxed almost
everyday, only a few people are in there a week
Filler
Suggestion
Install living roofs on campus facilities. These roofs extends life of the roof 10 fold and government
offers grants to organizations who implement these roofs. Not to mention the free publicity that is gained
Filler
Suggestion
Place bike racks in every available spot, outside of every building. Somehow make campus more bike-
friendly, it is currently very difficult to ride around (people, cars, and trolley tracks). I live a mile away,
but have heard reports of 3 people I know being jumped near 6th and Berks, which is my on my route to
Temple. I drive out of fear and because it is tough for me to get to my class once I`m near campus!
Filler
Suggestion
do not take the time to clean cigarette butts, make designated smoking areas with ample places to
dispose of cigarettes
Filler
Equipment
Suggestion
locker rentals that last the whole semester for commuting students.

Landscaping
Suggestion
While it is winter and the grass does not have to be cut, I noticed that at the Ambler campus during the
fall, the grass constantly seemed to be getting mowed. I think if the grass was allowed to grow just a little
bit longer that would help increase the time between mowings, therefore cutting down on labor costs. It
might not save the University a large sum of money, but nowadays every cent counts.
Filler
Suggestion
Reduce lawn size by planting small wild flower meadows and xeriscaping (low water landscaping). This will
cut the cost of mowing and watering.
Filler
Suggestion
don`t buy any plants that will die easily, so you don`t have to buy it every month or so.
Filler
Suggestion
Stop replacing flowers on main campus every few weeks, instead plant flowers that will bloom and last
longer (maybe even the entire semister)
Filler
Suggestion
Planting more trees would prevent the school from being fined in the near future. Sending out a massive
email to the student body about the importance of recycling could decrease the amount of recyclables
thrown into regular dumpsters. Also, Recycling bins should be placed at Temple`s train station. Washing
the crevices of the walls of buildings and pavements during the summer to get rid of moss could save
Temple some money on the water bill.
Filler
Suggestion
This fall I was shocked at all the mums planted throughout the campus. The cost of materials and labor to
plant these annual plants instead of perennials was extremely wasteful. Sustainable landscaping should
be Temple`s goal and would save money both in the short and long term.
Filler
Suggestion
Maybe spend less money on the agriculture, and the way the school looks. For example instead of
changing the flowers every 3 months, just have green grass there all the time, until we pass this hard
economic period.
Filler
Suggestion
Have horticulture students and volunteers install and maintain cutting gardens and victory gardens. Use
flowers in arrangements saving special events office florist expenses. Sell produce from gardens at an
on-campus farmers market. Invite neighbors to buy and sell home-grown produce too.
Filler
Suggestion
Cut back on the flower plantings - streamlined plantings. Long term - think sustainability - perennials -
bulbs-grasses - ground cover instead of grass - hardy native Pennsylvania plants. Less cost - water -
manpower.
Filler
Suggestion
I don`t know about cutting cost or improving efficiencies in the short term, but I do feel this impacts the
university in its efforts to be/become a destination campus. The sidewalks around some dorms and
buildings are filled with refuse, most notably, cigarette butts. For example, when I picked up my daughter
for Christmas from Peabody, the area out front was filthy. When I brought her back a month later, the
area was still filthy. Every day when I walk into Anderson, you walk through cigarette related trash. Can
we have ash trays? If people are allowed to smoke on campus, which apparently they are, then there
should be provisions for the trash. Also, if there is not sufficient staff to keep facilities clean, perhaps
this can be a work-study job, adding more support for students and improving the image. Sweeping does
not take any special expertise and minimal training so it does not require the services of the more senior,
experienced staff.

Send mail via U.S. Mail

Transportation
Suggestion
Stop the red and white SMALL buses that go right around main campus. Nobody uses them.
Filler
Suggestion
There needs to be something done about the shuttle service, specifically the one that goes to center city
campus. It is never on time to pick students up, and therefore students are late to class constantly and
left in the cold freezing. Busses should run every twenty minutes so students are able to get to center
city on time.
Filler
Suggestion
Campus vehicles should be hybrids, or have the highest fuel economy available. Honda Insight (2000-
2006), Honda Civic Vx, and Honda CRX HF. These three vehicles have the three highest EPA fuel
economy estimates.
Filler
Suggestion
hybrid busses
Filler
Trash
Suggestion
We can stop using the green bag in the trash cans on the outside trash all over campus. Most of the time
the bag are changed and not even full. We see a whole dumpster of half full trash bags. that is a lot of
money, plastic and waste.
Filler
Suggestion
Put more trashcans and ashtrays around (and notices of there being more) so there will be less trash to
clean up.
Filler
Vehicles
Suggestion
Less Temple Police cars - more Temple Police bicycles
Filler
Suggestion
To increase the amount of parking at the university, parking lines should be drawn on streets. This would
alleviate the problem of individual cars taking up more than one spot. It may decrease revenue for
parking services but it would assist students and employees in these tough economic times.
Filler
Suggestion
convert utility vehicles to all electric powered motors
Suggestion
have the chemistry/biology department figure out a way to develop/manufacture bio-diesel to run in the
Temple University diesel powered trucks
Filler
Suggestion
turn off the engines for the shuttle buses while they`re waiting lik 15 minutes!!
Filler
Suggestion
There needs to be a sign on Broad Street to indicate that there is a high traffic of students in the area
crossing the street that would trigger the vehicles to slow down because a student nearly got hit by a car
today on Cecil .B. Moore.
Filler
Suggestion
Facilities should have their men turn off truck engines and not have them idling for long periods of time.
