The PDP process is in full swing. Almost 3,000 PDPs were completed for 2006–07, with about 92 percent of employees receiving a rating of 2.85 or higher.
Next step is for all supervisors to create fiscal year 2007–08 PDPs for their employees to clearly set and communicate performance expectations including essential functions of their positions and goals for this year.
Remember, either employees or their supervisors can start the PDP. Supervisors should meet and discuss these expectations with their direct reports. Both supervisors and employees should enter comments throughout the year on the PDP.
This year, the universitywide competency is teamwork and collaboration. HR is offering a series of workshops to help build inter- and intra-departmental teams, including a new program that includes an opportunity for employees to tour the campus and learn more about what other offices do.
Visit the HR online course registration site at www.temple.edu/hr/training to learn more about these courses and to register. In addition, work teams can take advantage of MBTI (see below).

Assessment services now available
Organizational Development & Training now has the capability to administer and interpret several different assessment tools, including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
What is the MBTI? It is:
- An instrument that sorts psychological type and identifies the natural, preferred way of using one’s mind and directing energy.
- A tool that can provide helpful information to individuals and teams on: why individuals act and react as they do in work and social situations; what makes people comfortable or uncomfortable as team members or when leading teams; what individuals and teams need to re-energize, manage stressful situations and address conflict situations; how individuals accumulate and process information; how teams problem solve and make decisions; and how individuals and teams organize tasks, space and time.
The MBTI is the most widely used personality indicator in the world, with more than 2 million administered annually. It has been rigorously tested and validated over decades, has been translated into more than 24 languages and is used on every continent. It must be administered and interpreted by a qualified or certified administrator.
If you would like to have the MBTI administered to you or your entire department or team, contact Marie Amey-Taylor at 215-204-1673 or marie.amey-taylor@temple.edu.
