Is Temple University a Great Place to Work?

Thursday, May 8, 2008

Temple University is committed to recruiting, retaining, and supporting outstanding faculty and staff who prize diversity of thought, excel in scholarly endeavors, support the aspirations of capable students and help operate and maintain our great institution.

To better understand what is special about working at Temple and to identify the areas where we need to improve, we have agreed to conduct a university-wide, on-line Faculty and Staff Engagement Survey. Your participation in this study will allow us to get your thoughts about working at Temple, compare ourselves against the other participating institutions, and use what we learn to set goals for next fiscal year.

At the same time, we will participate in the Chronicle of Higher Education’s first Great Colleges/Universities to Work for 2008 survey. This survey will recognize institutions that offer excellent workplaces and provide benchmarking information about compensation, benefits, work quality, career advancement, communication, management, retention and other employment issues.

ModernThink, an independent, strategic human resources firm, has been hired by the Chronicle to conduct this confidential on-line survey with faculty and staff at approximately 100 participating institutions. Temple University has also hired ModernThink to conduct the same confidential survey to all faculty and staff and then will use the results for Great Colleges/University survey as well. Although the survey covers a wide range of areas, it should take only about 20 minutes to complete.

ModernThink will be sending you an email shortly that will provide further details and instructions on how to take the on-line survey. We hope you share your opinions to help us improve. Please be assured that your anonymity will be preserved throughout this process.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Suzi Schmittlein of ModernThink at sschmittlein@modernthink.com or 888-684-4658 or Temple’s Karen Cherwony at karen.cherwony@temple.edu, 1-1669.

Please participate when you get your survey!
