2,500 Employee Service Awards distributed
The new Employee Service Awards and Recognition program is off and running. Almost 2,500 staff and faculty members will receive the first wave of awards in the coming weeks. On an ongoing basis, each school and department will present service awards regularly to staff and faculty to recognize five, 10 and 15 years of service with the university.
These awards will be in addition to the monthly updates that recognize employee service and are posted online at the HR web site. Contact Hunt Bartine at 215-204-3315 or hunt.bartine@temple.edu with questions.
Commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.
The university is planning an event for the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. in January 2008. King was one of the main leaders of the American civil rights movement, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and many other awards, recognitions and honorary degrees. Martin Luther King Day is a day of “interracial and intercultural cooperation and sharing,” according to The King Center. If you are interested in being involved with planning the commemoration event, please contact Marie Amey-Taylor at marie.amey-taylor@temple.edu or 215-204-1673.
Planning begins for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
At its first meeting earlier this month, the planning committee set aside Thursday, April 24, 2008, as the date when employees’ children ages 8 to 14 will be invited to experience and participate in your workplace. There’s still time to get involved. The committee is looking for people to help plan events throughout the university and its departments. Contact Eric Brunner at eric.brunner@temple.edu if you are interested in lending a hand or have questions.
