  • New I-9, W-4 and Direct Deposit Electronic Onboarding System

Starting August 24, 2009, I-9s, W-4s, and Direct Deposit forms for New Employees will be completed via the electronic Onboarding system. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any paper I-9s and W4s forms processed by departments for any new employee on or after August 24th.

Employees, Students, and Adjunct Faculty hired via iGreentree will be automatically loaded into the Onboarding system. For Post-Docs, GA/TA, and Faculty that are not currently hired via iGreentree, designated representatives from the respective Schools/Colleges will manually enter these individuals into the Onboarding system.

For those new Employees, Student and Faculty who will not be working near any of Temple University’s Campuses, please contact your HR Generalist in advance of their hire so that we may make alternative arrangements for them.

If you have any other questions or concerns about this process, please contact your HR Generalist.

  • Update on the use of the new I-9 Form

The new I-9 forms (Employment Eligibility Verification forms) are effective Friday, April 3rd, 2009. The USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) has revised the Form I-9, (Revision 02/02/09) and the List of Acceptable Documents.   All employers, including Temple University, must be begin using the revised I-9 form beginning Friday, April 3, 2009. Failure to do so could expose the University to fines by the U.S. Department Labor and USCIS. The revised form is intended to improve the security of the employment authorization verification process. The biggest difference in the revised Form I-9 is that all documents presented during the verification process must be unexpired.

Additionally, using the new forms prior to April 3, 2009 could also expose the University to fines. Please dispose of all your old I-9 Forms (Revision 06/05/07) on April 3, 2009 and the old List of Acceptable Documents and start using the current documents for all new hires, including part-time and student workers. All authorized signers are to print and begin using the attached documents immediately. If you have any questions regarding this form please contact the HR Generalist that represents your department. Thank you for your cooperation.
