Faculty and employees of TAUP and the Law School are eligible for $18,000 basic life insurance.
Eligible employees may elect to purchase additional life insurance in the amounts of 1.5, 2 or 3 times their annual base salary. The aggregate total amount of basic and supplemental life
insurance is subject to a maximum value. Employees pay the full cost of this additional
insurance, with the rates based on age.
If additional life insurance is elected within 31 days of initial eligibility, there is no requirement to produce medical evidence of insurability.
Eligible employees may elect to purchase accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage. AD&D coverage amounts range from $10,000 to $150,000, and employees may enroll or change coverage elections effective the first of any month, with no medical evidence required. Coverage is available for employee only, or employee plus dependents. If dependent coverage is elected, the employee’s spouse is covered for one fifth (1/5) of the face value of the policy, children for one tenth (1/10).
It is good practice to check your beneficiary information for accuracy on occasion and to keep the information up to date. If you are currently enrolled in the University’s group term life insurance plan, and wish to change your beneficiary election, please complete a Beneficiary Change Form. Completed forms should be sent to the Benefits Office. Any changes requested will be effective the day the change form is received in the Benefits Office.
