"I have had a wonderful Honor's experience and have certainly made lifelong friends. With the support of these eclectic and amazing students, I am not embarrassed by my love of Chinese Opera or my affinity for the arts."

Orientation

Information for Freshman

There are six general Orientation dates that are especially for Honors students. Your Honors Orientation will offer informational programs for you, your peers, and parents/guests. You will do everything involved with the overall Temple Orientation, but there will also be special academic and social Honors sessions that you will attend. These sessions will be noted in a personalized letter that you will receive from Honors approximately one week in advance of your Orientation session.

On May 1 you will be able to register for Honors New Student Orientation if you have paid your tuition deposit (due by May 1).  The "Out of Town" orientations are for students greater than 70 miles from Temple's main campus.  The "Local" orientations are for students less than 70 miles from Temple's main campus.  You need to attend only one of these sessions.  So, as you are planning your summer vacation, please keep these dates in mind.

June 23-24 – Local

July 8-9 – Local

July 14-17 – Out of Town

July 24-25 – Local

July 28-31 – Out of Town

August 4-7 – Out of Town

You must register for your Honors Orientation session by June 1.  These sessions will fill based  on a first-come, first-served basis.  You are required to attend New Student Orientation in order to register for classes. For more information and to register for orientation, please visit the Orientation Website.

Useful Information Before You Arrive for Honors Orientation

  • Before you arrive for your orientation session, we would like for you to go online and review the Fall 2007 Honors Course Guide. This guide lists all of the Honors courses offered and provides very detailed descriptions of each course. The course guide will be updated throughout the summer. Don't get your heart set on a specific schedule just yet! Our job during orientation is to help you plan your courses while you are here talking with us one-on-one. We have lots of tips, tricks, and great information about courses and professors that are not in the course guide (only in our heads).
  • A word of advice about placement tests…Please prepare for your placement testing, particularly if your foreign language is a little rusty. You might be lucky and place out of English Composition, Mathematics, and/or Foreign Language entirely. We strongly encourage you to review placement test information online at www.temple.edu/marc/placements.html.
  • If you have questions or need to get in touch with the Honors staff, please call (215) 204-0710 or email honors@temple.edu

Information for Transfer Students

Please let us know when you will be visiting campus so we can schedule a meeting to introduce ourselves, answer any questions, and get you some Honors classes!  If you are transferring from another institution, please visit the Transfer Orientation Website for more information.

At the start of the semester, we will have a general information session for all transfers to meet one another, get more acclimated with Honors, and be sure your schedule is squared away.
