Courses

We are all about exploration and discovery.  Classes are usually small, taught as seminars in which students and professors challenge each other to think hard and creatively about issues and ideas at the heart of a strong education.  Honors class discussions are like the best conversations—we don’t want them to end.  Our courses often reflect the academic passions of Temple’s favorite professors, such as John Raines’s popular Political Protest and Culture in the 1960’s.  We also offer Honors versions of standard fare, courses like Psychology as a Social Science and Macroeconomics

To graduate from the Honors Program, students must complete at least ten courses during their undergraduate career at Temple (eight courses for transfers with between 45 and 59 credits, six courses for transfer students with more than 60 credits).  Students have the option to be an Honors Scholar by completing an Honors Project (thesis, creative work, etc.) during their junior or senior year.  To find out more about our graduation requirements, see the Honors Handbook.

Students can select Honors courses to fulfill General Education requirements, take courses required by a major, or take courses just because they sound intriguing!

To see what classes are offered in Honors this semester, have a look at the right side of this page. You'll see course descriptions for many of our Honors Gen Ed offerings, as well as upper level courses. These course guides will be updated through the semester, so keep an eye on them for new courses!

UPDATE: MARCH 12th, 2012 - All Fall 2012 courses are viewable on Banner (or go to www.temple.edu/courses, check on "Fall 2012 (View Only)", then you can search by subject and/or Gen Ed area). If you wish to see all of the Fall 2012 Honors courses, you can highlight every subject then click on "Honors" in the "General Education or Core Attributes" section.

Please Note: The course guides to the left only cover selected Honors courses. There are many more offerings in a variety of subjects (Business, Engineering, etc.) that can be viewed on the Temple courses page (www.temple.edu/courses).
