Bryant Simon is the author most recently of Everything But the Coffee: Learning about America From Starbucks and Boardwalk of Dreams: Atlantic City and the Fate of Urban America. Currently he is working on a broad ranging study of the high costs of cheap food. This will tell the tragic story of the fatal factory fire in Hamlet, NC in 1991 where twenty-five workers died behind locked doors. They made chicken tenders that sold at Shoney's for $1.99, fries and a drink included.
