The History Department is a community of over forty leading scholars working in all fields of historical inquiry. Our particular areas of strength include recent U.S. history, the colonial period, 19th Century United States, urban history, public history, gender, race and ethnicity, military history, the cold war and 20th century international history. We have recently added new faculty in areas such as Latin American and Caribbean history, the Atlantic World, and African history.
Our Ph.D. program features over 100 students working across all of these fields. Temple Ph.D. students have found employment across the nation in leading institutions.
