Barbara Ann Day-Hickman received her Ph.D. in Modern European History with a minor in Art History from the University of California at Irvine. She also studied at the Ecole Practique des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Societies in Paris and held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. She is currently an associate professor in Modern European history at Temple University in Philadelphia. Her research deals with the relationship between popular art and political culture in Modern European societies. Currently, she is developing a study of representations of talented an unconventional women in popular prints from the French Revolution to World War I.
