Milestone 4
Developing a Plan of Study
By this stage, you have assessed your strengths, clarified your interests, and identified your goals. What's next? You need a plan of study, and the guidelines you need to help you develop a personal plan of study can be found here. Below, you will be able to open, download, and print a course sequence guide for your major or career goal.
You should keep in mind that the academic requirements for many of the health care programs share some common course requirements during the first two years. For example, many require courses in the Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, Social or Behavioral Sciences, and Reading and Composition. These common courses allow for some relatively easy movement between and among specific majors during this time. Comparative charts are provided for you to open or download that show what courses a number of majors share. This information can help you see how the courses you've taken might apply to other majors as you refine your career interests.
As you advance in your course of study, you should bear in mind that academic performance in the basic sciences - biology, chemistry, and physics - is a strong predictor for success in many careers in the life sciences and health profession. You should enroll in these courses early in your academic career, especially if you are interested in Health Care or Laboratory clusters.
Click on the major or area to download the appropriate course of study time-line. You can use this in consultation with your advisor to develop an individual plan of study for your undergraduate career.
