African American Studies Course
Spring Semester 2010 (January 19 - May 3)

Course 8432 African American Family

This graduate level African American Family course is a contemporary theories and research course on the African American family. It includes assessment of family behavior, the role of children, sex roles, and perceptual changes within the context of society, demographic factors, impact of unemployment and underemployment, and income distribution of African American families.

Temple University African American Studies Department Chair: Nathaniel Norment, Jr., Ph.D.

A nationally known scholar, Dr. Norment completed his Ph.D. from Fordham University,

M.S. from Saint Francis University and his B.S. from Ball State University and has published in many professional journals.

This course will be offered in a blended format with some online and in the class meetings.

The course will be offered Tuesday evening´s at 6pm.

A trendsetting new program is providing Temple undergraduates with semester-long, credit-earning, total-immersion public policy experiences in Harrisburg, the state capital of Pennsylvania. Think of it as MTV´s "The Real World" for students who want to explore state government — only with internships tailored to their majors instead of cameras and drama.

Overview of the RN to BSN Online Completion Program

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) for Registered Nurses is an online program that is designed for currently licensed nurses working in the United States. The program provides nurses with enhanced knowledge and skills and prepares them for career advancement and graduate education. The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

For many college students, the brief respite between the spring and summer semesters is a time of rest and relaxation. But for three students from Temple University Harrisburg, the break provided an opportunity to take knowledge gained in the classroom and use it to serve others.

Fast Track Your Way to Principal Certification

Normally it takes two to four years to earn Principal Certification. However, with Temple University College of Education´s Accelerated Blended Certificate Program, it is as convenient and easy as ABC. Educators interested in earning a K-12 principal certification can do so in little more than a year while still working full time as a teacher or school administrator.

The ABC program involves online course work during one academic year bracketed by in-class work during two summers at any of three Temple Campuses: Center City Philadelphia, Ft. Washington or Harrisburg. There is no application fee, and GRE or MAT scores are not required.
