Board members donate their valuable time to help organizations achieve their mission. The purpose for this training is to: (1) assess the functioning of the board through an independent assessment; (2) identify areas for board improvement; (3) provide general and specific strategies to improve board functioning; (4) increase board member ownership of the organization; (5) increase productivity of the agency; and (6) enjoy the experience of board directorship. Advanced Grant Writing Series 1/19/10, 1/26/10 & 2/2/10 @ HarrisburgThis series is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and resources to submit for government and foundation support. The purpose of the three session seminar series is to guide participants through the grant writing process. Participants are asked to actively write a grant over the 3 session period. Guidance is provided to develop a quality proposal that can be submitted to a funding source. Participants will receive individual support and critique to produce a successful proposal. Program Evaluation 11/17/09 @HarrisburgThe Program Evaluation course is a primer on how to evaluate a specific program within a nonprofit agency. Participants will: (1) construct a logic model for the program; (2) understand how to perform a process and formative evaluation; (3) learn how to perform an outcomes evaluation; (4) how to perform a cost analysis of the program; and (5) learn how to communicate program outcomes to various target audiences for program sustainability. | Fees and RegistrationBasic Grant Writing: $20 Each workshop has been approved for 3 continuing education hours. Temple University Harrisburg is a pre-approved provider of continuing education by the PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors. Certificates of attendance documenting continuing education hours will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:David Zanis, Ph.D., an associate professor in the College of Health Professions and Social work will be the lead presenter. Dr. Zanis serves as the Director on the Temple NEST and has significant experience in nonprofit development, management and program evaluation. He has received funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, U.S. Department of Education, Administration for Children and Families, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, state offices and private and community foundations. |
