Request for help with TUH Book drive
Hello TUH Students, Faculty, Alumni, Etc:

The TUH Social Work Student Alliance is putting on a campus book drive! All the books that are collected are sent to Better World Books (BWB), where BWB in turn take the money earned from the books we donate to an organization chosen by the student body of TUH, which is the National Center for Family Literacy (http://www.famlit.org/). Additionally, the Student Alliance will receive money for facilitating the book drive. We have chosen to take our earnings and support Holy Cross Anglican School in Belize (holycrossbelize.org).

When can I bring in my books?

  • You will first see the receptacles appear on Monday, November 29th.

What kinds of books can I donate?

  • College Textbooks and Study Guides (clean and legible condition) with copyright dates from the past 10 years
  • Workbooks (with no missing pages)
  • Basically any book used in a college classroom (highlighting or writing in books is fine so long as the text isn´t obscured)
  • Accompanying CDs
  • Hardcover Fiction/Nonfiction
  • Paperbacks (must be in like-new condition with copyright 1980 or newer)
  • Former Library Books
  • Travel Books (with copyright dates from the past 5 years)

What books are NOT acceptable to donate?

Please DO NOT send course packets, custom publications, books in the following condition:

  • Dirty
  • Moldy
  • Water Damaged
  • Damaged Binding or Pages
  • Missing Covers or Pages
  • Cut Out Library Treatments

Where do I bring my books?

  • There will be two receptacles within TUH. One can be located just inside the door in the front lobby, and one will be located upstairs in the student lounge.

How long will the book drive last?

The book drive will last through the Spring Semester-May 2011. (So, ask your friends, family, and co-workers if they have anything to donate as well! The holiday season is always a good time to ask your family if they have anything extra lying around!)

If I have questions, who should I contact?
