Kristina Mellinger - Facilitator

Kristina entered the MSW program in the fall of 2007. She completed her undergraduate studies in December of 2005 at Millersville University where she majored in Fine Arts with a concentration in Clay and Metals. She is also a performing Slam Poet, an athlete (soccer and volleyball), and a gardener among other things. Kristina currently works in the Drug and Alcohol Treatment field as a counselor in an inpatient rehab serving dually diagnosed clients. She loves the constant action found in a residential program, and enjoys using her artistic background to approach therapy from another perspective. In December of 2008, she became a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC).

Alliance Organizational Structure and Info

Public Meetings

The Alliance holds 7 public meetings a year - usually from 5:30-6:30pm at an announced TUH location on the second Tuesday of each of the following months: February, March, April, July, September, October, and November.

Facilitated by the Alliance Leadership Team, time is allotted during each meeting for TUH students, alumni and faculty to share announcements or raise issues or concerns regarding TUH or social work related topics. We hope to see you there!

Our Mission

The mission of the Social Work Student Alliance is to advocate for the students of Temple University Harrisburg´s School of Social Work and the populations they serve, fostering positive educational experiences for students by promoting self-determination in the learning process. Guided by the NASW Code of Ethics, the Alliance honors diversity and is dedicated to social change and social justice, demonstrated through advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations towards the eradication of oppression.

Our Goals

  • Raise students´ awareness through information sharing/dissemination, educational events, and networking opportunities.
  • Advocate to further the rights of social work students and the populations they serve.
  • Promote the visibility of Temple Harrisburg´s campus and students through community outreach and service efforts.
  • Foster a partnership between students and Temple University administration to ensure that student concerns are heard and addressed.
