What We Do for Area Agencies on Aging

Identify the Commonwealth´s protective services workers´ training needs.
Provide education opportunities designed to meet these needs.
Assist localities to develop multidisciplinary investigative teams to investigate and solve crimes against the elderly.
Provide, on a case-by-case basis, area agencies on aging with medical, nursing, legal and investigative consultation, to assist in resolving complex elder crimes.
Test whether the presence of a protective service worker, primarily assigned to financial exploitation investigations, increases the recovery of funds taken from elders and the success of prosecution in these cases.

What We Do for Police, District Attorneys, & Coroners

• Develop a collaborative working relationship with law enforcement agencies.
• Provide training in areas identified by law enforcement personnel for solving crimes committed against the elderly.
• Assist localities to develop multidisciplinary investigative teams to investigate and solve crimes against the elderly.
• Provide, on a case-by-case basis, law enforcement agencies with medical, nursing, legal and investigative consultation, to assist in resolving complex elder crimes.
