What is unique about the Harrisburg program? The MSW program will be a specifically designed part-time program for the working adult. Classes are offered in the evenings and on Saturdays using a variety of teaching methods.

Will I be able to take all of my classes in the Harrisburg Area? Yes, 100% of the courses in the 60 credit Regular program and 34.5 credits in Advanced Standing program will be at the Harrisburg campus, either in person or online.

Who teaches the courses? Courses are taught by Temple faculty based in Harrisburg and by experienced part-time faculty.

How long will it take to get my MSW? By following the outlined course of study a full time student in the Regular MSW program will receive their MSW in 2 years and a part-time student will receive their MSW in 3 years. A full time student in the Advanced Standing will receive the MSW in 13 months and part time students will receive their MSW in 18 months.

Can I continue to work while enrolled in this MSW program? Yes. Classes meet in the evenings and on Saturdays.

Where will I attend classes? Classes will meet on the campus of Temple University Harrisburg, located in Strawberry Square.

Will I have to do a field internship? Yes, all students complete field practicum; 4 semesters for the Regular program, 2 semesters for the Advanced Standing program.

May I use my place of employment for my field requirement? Usually yes, the majority of Temple MSW students complete their field requirements at their place of employment. This will depend on the cooperation of your agency, your learning interests, and whether your agency can provide you with the appropriate learning opportunities.

Is the program clinically focused? Yes, a program concentration in Clinical Social Work Practice with Individuals, Families, and Small Groups is available. Students can also take classes in the Management and Planning concentration.

Is the MSW program in Harrisburg the same program that is offered at other campuses? Yes, course content, expectations, and quality will be the same for classes provided in Harrisburg as they are at all Temple campuses.
