We are pleased to present this workshop which will emphasize ethical issues in health care practice for social workers and will provide the 3 continuing education hours for the new licensing regulation which requires 3 clock hours related to ethical issues. This workshop prepares social workers to assume leadership in dealing with ethical issues in health care. It uses an interactive discussion method to develop skills and depth in applying ethical principles and decisionmaking procedures to health care situation. Theworkshop focuses on our professional responsibilities to patients´/ clients´ rights: autonomy, informed consent, confidentiality, truthfulness, respect for persons and respect for boundaries. Particular attention will be given to situations inwhich socialworkers face ethical dilemmas in promoting client and family well-being and decision making. Continuing Education CreditsThis program has been approved for three continuing education hours. Accredited schools of social work are pre-approved providers of continuing education by the State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors. Temple University School of Social Administration is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Certificates of attendance documenting 3 continuing education hours will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg. This lecture will explore the connection between these forms of violence. One study showed that animal abuse was reported in 88% of homes referred to physical abuse of children. The lecture will also discuss ways that professionals can help to identify homes where children may be in danger. Additionally we will talk about practical techniques for talking to children about their pets that can help tell us what if anything, they have also experienced. Angie Scott, JD: Angie Scott, JD received her BA in sociology from the Ohio State University and her law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School. She was a forensic interviewer at CASIE Center in South Bend, Indiana where she interviewed over 600 children and served as a faculty member for Finding Words, IN. Ms Scott, a training and organizational development professional with over 15 years experience now oversees Half a nation by 2010 and Finding Words for the National Child Protection Training Center (NCPC) at Winona State University. She is an attorney with the American Prosecutor´s Resource Institute (APRI).
