Adolescent Psychosexual Development and The Effects, Fusion of Substances

This workshop is intended to increase the professional´s awareness, knowledge, and skills regarding the complexities of human sexuality and substance use/abuse/and addiction. This is an informational, educational workshop. Thus, the goal is for the professional to incorporate the information into his/her existing therapeutic skills and/or their philosophy of behavioral change.

OBJECTIVES:

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe and therapeutically incorporate adolescent sexual concerns
  • Describe and therapeutically incorporate environmental,
    cultural influences on adolescent sexual and substance decision making
  • Describe, understand and therapeutically incorporate how the human sexual response cycle is correlated with substance use/abuse/addiction-how substances enhance or extinguish sexual interest and performance
  • Describe, understand and therapeutically incorporate the sexual issues that might develop when an adolescent becomes substance abstinent

Instructor

Bruce Schaeffer earned both his bachelor and masters degree in education at Temple University. He also holds the credential of an internationally certified criminal justice addiction professional. Bruce is currently a self employed contractor for a range of agencies in the southeast region of the state providing counseling and forensic counseling. Bruce has been a trainer and consultant since 1987 in the areas of substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS. He is the recipient of the 2007 Trainer of Southeast Pennsylvania Award.

Registration

The cost of the seminar is $35.00 which includes the certificate processing fee for continuing education credits (checks should be made payable to Hoffman Homes, Inc.) Simply complete the registration form and mail with payment to the address on this form. In the event that the program is filled, persons will be notified. Please provide a DAYTIME telephone number for this purpose. Seating is limited, therefore early registration is recommended. A confirmation letter will not be sent.
