Fast Track Your Way to Principal Certification

Normally it takes two to four years to earn Principal Certification. However, with Temple University College of Education´s Accelerated Blended Certificate Program, it is as convenient and easy as ABC. Educators interested in earning a K-12 principal certification can do so in little more than a year while still working full time as a teacher or school administrator.

The ABC program involves online course work during one academic year bracketed by in-class work during two summers at any of three Temple Campuses: Center City Philadelphia, Ft. Washington or Harrisburg. There is no application fee, and GRE or MAT scores are not required.

For more information, please contact Marcia Whitaker (Philadelphia and Ft. Washington campuses) at 215-204-8061 or marcia.whitaker@temple.edu or Clifford Smith (Harrisburg campus) 717.221.1685 or casjr@temple.edu Or visit ABC Program at Temple.

Ashley Kettering, TUH MSW Student, Supporting our Troops

Ashley Kettering Ashley Kettering, TUH MSW Student, Supporting our Troops

Ashley is a graduate student in her first year at Temple University Harrisburg. Recently, her husband was deployed to Iraq with the 56th Stryker Brigade 1st/111th out of Kutztown Pennsylvania. The 56th Stryker Brigade is in need of supplies and resources, while living in Iraq. Ashley started an organization called Families Supporting the Troops to help gather and send these supplies to the unit.

Since this unit is going to be deployed for almost a year, Ashley is asking everyone to come together as a source of support for these troops, while they are so far away from home. Ashley is looking for anything you may be able to provide for them.

A brochure of needed items and a donation box will be located at Temple University in Harrisburg as long as the 56th Stryker Brigade 1st/111th is deployed to Iraq.

Ashley is looking forward to your continued support for our troops. If you need more information please stop by the front desk for a flyer or contact Anne Eckert, Coordinator of Student Services.

MSW student Ashley Kettering and our troops are bringing home dogs from Iraq

MSW student Ashley Kettering MSW student Ashley Kettering and our troops are bringing home dogs from Iraq

Treatment of cats and dogs in Iraq has demonstrated a vast amount of inhumane treatment. Due to a rabies outbreak among the feline and canine population, the Iraqi Police have a force that shoots these cats and dogs. Recently, soldiers from the 56th Stryker Brigade sought to bring home a few of our canine friends to safe homes in the United States.

Operation Baghdad Pups, which is affiliated with International SPCA, has helped three soldiers from the 56th Stryker Brigade bring home three dogs from Iraq. This non-profit organization has helped over a hundred dogs, since 2007 reach safety in the United States. Yet, a vast majority of the animals are not as lucky as the three dogs that were brought home on March 31, 2009. Through donations Baghdad Pups is able to go into Iraq and escort the dogs and cats through their journey to the United States. This process is expensive and can cost five thousand dollars per dog or cat to escort and care for them on their journey. This cost includes the representative to accompany the animal from Iraq to the United States, airline crates, airplane tickets, training pads, and/but not limited to, animal food and water.

Ashley and her husband were lucky enough to adopt one of the dogs from Iraq, and we are going to give her a home where she can be safe and secure. Ashley´s husband named her Cope, and he calls her the best thing that has happened to him in Iraq.

Baghdad Pups is a wonderful organization that has helped many of our troops bring home their cat or dog from Iraq. If you want to help please visit Baghdad Pup´s website at www.baghdadpups.com.

There you will be able to see the success stories that Baghdad Pups made possible, and maybe even donate to this wonderful organization.
