is a matter of finding my
way--perhaps recently
misplaced or gone
all along. The point is

I need to get going. Sometimes I think I am
unequipped for such vital
missions. As if I need a map

that has not been given to me
or I need to stop
for directions. I am not afraid
to ask for help but

all of the gas stations are closed,
and I'm not quite sure
of the rules. For instance,
are partners permissible? If so

do we get to choose
or are they assigned at random?
This may seem like a cop-out, but
it's actually much harder

planning for two, so much
to take into consideration. It requires
a certain sort of meeting
in the middle, which is a fuzzy

place. I'm not sure I grasp it
the way that you do, though gray
is more my color.
I tend to over-analyze

getting there and whether
we'll get there together
and if not, who will get
left behind. So I just ride

holding your hand on unknown
roads. Detour signs hinder
access but you find the shortcut.
You always do.
