The Yellow Bicycle
A yellow bicycle moves through this poem
just as it did through the other poet's poem.
But the girl riding the bicycle in his poem is not here
nor are the lovers present in some garden.
My bicycle more by itself, nudged along by my lines.
I am certain that the bicycle in the other poem stands for
something else besides nostalgia for one's lost childhood.
Maybe the bicycle stands for nothing else but a metaphor
for movement, literally taking the poem from start to finish
and urging some other poet to use it to write his poem.
