Dear colleagues and friends:
Welcome to Schuylkill! Founded and edited by graduate students, this journal has been conceived to recognize and promote the quality of creative and critical work produced by the graduate programs of Temple University and its region.
Schuylkill has also been created to create community, by encouraging collaboration between departments, conversations across campuses, and interdisciplinary work -- and as a journal of interest to an academic and non-academic audience alike. We named ourselves after the Schuylkill River to associate ourselves with the Philadelphia area, but as importantly for the richness of the metaphor: signifying connections, incorporation of various elements and sources, and constant, flowing movement.
Please see this as your journal and participate -- by sending us your comments, submitting work, volunteering for the journal or conference, and spreading the word!

This on-line edition of Schuylkill was designed to be viewed using Netscape 3.0 or later in a maximized window on a platform capable of displaying 16 bit color at 800 by 600 pixel resolution. While the site should be functional under other configurations, some features might not be displayed properly. Rob Callahan performed the HTML coding and graphics design for the on-line version of Schuylkill's inaugural issue.
