Admission Requirements and Deadlines

Application Deadline:

Fall: June 1; March 15 international

Completed applications are processed throughout the year as they are received. International students who miss the deadline are required to submit to Temple University an evaluation of their transcripts by an approved educational evaluation firm.

Letters of Reference:

Number Required: 2

From Whom: Letters of recommendation should be obtained from college/university faculty members familiar with academic competence and/or immediate work supervisor.

Coursework Required for Admission Consideration:

No specific courses are required for admission, but two years of work experience is highly recommended.

Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline:

A baccalaureate degree is required, but it need not be in business.

Statement of Goals:

Applicants for the IMBA program are expected to submit a Statement of Goals that describes future goals in specific terms. Applicants should avoid use of generalizations or blanket statements. The statement should address how the IMBA will assist in achieving the applicant's goals.

Standardized Test Scores:

The GMAT is required. Applicants with scores of less than 570 on the GMAT are not considered for the M.B.A. program. Applicants who score lower than 570 are encouraged to re-take the exam to be considered for admission.

Minimum TOEFL score needed to be accepted: 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, or 79 internet-based.

General Program Requirements:

Number of Didactic Credits Required Beyond the Baccalaureate: 48

Required Courses:

Students are required to complete 18 credits in business foundation courses prior to the beginning of the program in Paris or Mumbai. These classes can be taken in either Philadelphia, Mumbai, or Paris the summer prior to beginning the program:

ACCT 5001: Financial and Managerial Accounting

ECON 5001: Managerial Economics

FIN 5001: Financial Analysis and Strategy

MSOM 5001: Operations Management

MKTG 5001: Marketing Management strategy

STAT 5001: Quantitative Business Methods

Fall Semester offered in Paris or Mumbai: International Financial Institution and Corporate Finance; Law and Ethics; Multinational Strategic Management; Valuation of the Firm; IMBA Practicum: Corporate Visits and Mentoring.

Spring Semester in Philadelphia: Project in Consulting; International Marketing; Managing People and Organizations; Multinational Management and Policy.

Summer I Semester in Philadelphia: Globalization; Managing Risk; Entrepreneurial Thinking; information Technology Perspectives.

Summer II Semester in Tokyo: Special Topics: Studies in Asian Commerce; Corporate Visits.

Internship: No internship is required.

Language Examination: No language examination is required.

Additional Requirements:

Students in the IMBA program are required to participate in a live consulting project that culminates in a Business Plan Competition and a Venture Capital Fair.

Culminating Events:

Live Consulting Project:

Students are required to successfully complete a live consulting project that culminates with a venture capital fair and a business plan competition. This project is one of the most important learning experiences in the program. Students join a three- or four-person team and complete a strategic-level consulting project in a multinational company. Each student team carries out its project and interacts with the client company as if the project were being conducted by a professional consulting firm. Student teams are responsible for all phases of their projects, from the initial design to the delivery of a final report and a formal presentation to the company's senior management. This project experience is supervised by a Temple senior faculty member.

About the Program

The Fox School of Business and Management offers M.B.A. programs that help develop a solid understanding of business models created by the synergistic forces of globalization, entrepreneurship, and information technology. Our approach to graduate education helps develop practical expertise through case analysis, presentations, interaction with business practitioners, and team projects. The Fox School prepares students to step immediately into key management roles in highly specialized fields. The Fox School is the region's second largest business graduate school with over 1,300 students studying in 16 areas of concentration, including international business. In addition to the M.B.A. with a concentration in International Business Administration, the Fox School offers an International M.B.A. program. The IMBA program requires students to take courses on three continents.

All six required business foundation courses can be taken during the summer semester prior to beginning the IMBA in either Philadelphia, Mumbai, or the Paris.

Full-Time/Part-Time Status:

Students are required to complete the degree program through classes offered before 4:30 p.m.

Interdisciplinary Study:

Students seeking an International M.B.A. take courses in a number of academic areas. All of the courses are taught from an international business perspective.

Affiliation(s):

Research is supported by the Fox School of Business and Management's eBusiness Institute, the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the Institute of Global Management Studies, the Institute for Healthcare Management, the Center for eMarketing, the Ethics Resource Center, the Safeguard Scientifics Center for Economic Education, the Institute for Financial Services, and the Small Business Development Center. Research interests of the Fox School faculty are also supported by numerous centers and institutes throughout Temple University.

Study Abroad:

The International M.B.A. program is taught on three continents. Students in this program take courses in Paris or Mumbai for the fall semester, Philadelphia for the spring semester, and Tokyo during the summer.

Ranking:

The Fox School of Business and Management is currently ranked in the top 75 business schools by Forbes and in the top 50 programs for our Executive M.B.A. The Fox School has also been ranked 14th for technology M.B.A. programs by Computerworld, and holds a specialty ranking of 26th in the nation for healthcare management programs. The Fox School has been recognized for research in numerous departments and is in the top 1% of citings of university research.

Non-Degree Student Policy:

The International M.B.A. is a cohort program with students taking all of the classes together. Temple University only accepts students to this program in the Fall of each year.
