Admission Requirements and Deadlines

Application Deadline:

Fall: March 15

Spring: September 30

Completed applications are processed throughout the year as they are received. International students who miss the December 15 deadline are required to submit to Temple University an evaluation of their transcript by an approved educational evaluation firm.

Coursework Required for Admission Consideration:

Students should have an undergraduate business degree. Students that do not meet these qualifications may be advised to take general business courses as part of their elective sequence.

Statement of Goals:

The statement of goals in the application should include a description of the applicant's career accomplishments and the career path chosen and how an M.S. degree will further the applicant's goals. The statement of goals should be limited to 2 pages and should avoid generalizations.

Standardized Test Scores:

The GRE/GMAT is required. There is no minimum score. However, stronger scores weigh more favorably in the application process.

Minimum TOEFL score or range of scores needed to be accepted: 230 on the computerized exam or 575 on the paper exam. Students scoring less than 600 on the paper-based TOEFL or 250 on the computer-based TOEFL are required to take the SPEAK test and may be required to take an English course to improve communication skills

Resume:

A resume is required.

Transfer Credit:

Upper-level graduate credits from an accredited graduate business program may be transferred into the M.B.A. program. The credits must be part of the required degree program at Temple University. To be transferred the grade must be a "B" or better. The Admissions Committee makes recommendations for transferring credits to the Chair of the Department. The maximum number of credits a student may transfer is 6.

The business foundation classes are offered at both campuses throughout the year. Upper-level courses are not offered at all campuses. Courses are also offered online.

Full-Time/Part-Time Status:

Students are able to complete the degree program through classes offered after 4:30 p.m.

Prerequisite for Program: STAT 402 HRA Courses Required: BA 510: Managing People and Organizations Choose five of the following HRA courses: HRA 511 Organizational Communication and Information Management; HRA 512 Managing Productive Work Teams; HRA 513 Power, Influence, Negotiation; HRA 514 Building High Performance Organizations; HRA 515 Best Practices in HR; HRA 516 Strategic Reward Systems; HRA 517 HR in a Dynamic Environment; HRA 598-599 Independent Study. HRA 556: Electronic Relationships at Work. Business Electives: Choose three 500-level Business Electives, not HRA, or you may complete other graduate courses with the approval of your advisor. Capstone: HRA 525 Strategic Challenges in Human Resources

Internship: No internship is required.

Language Examination: No language examination is required.

About the Program

The Fox School of Business and Management offers M.S. programs through which students acquire in-depth knowledge of one business discipline. These programs are ideally suited for the business professional who wishes to develop advanced mastery of one business specialization. Our approach to graduate education helps develop practical expertise through case analyses and presentations, interaction with business practitioners, and team projects. The Fox School prepares students to step immediately into key management roles in highly specialized fields. The Fox School is the region's second largest business graduate school with over 1,300 students studying in 35 graduate business areas of concentration.

Non-Degree Student Policy:

Students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above may take classes on a non-matriculated status. Non-matriculated students can take a maximum of 9 credit hours. Any additional courses require the student to be matriculated in a program.

Financing Opportunities

The Fox School has a limited number of scholarships for students with high academic and test scores. Scholarships are offered at the time of acceptance into the Fox School. The Fox School of Business and Management has a limited number of graduate externships for assignments in academic and administrative departments. Work assignments are generally administrative in nature and may include word and data processing. An externship provides up to 20 hours of service per week. Students are required to submit applications directly to the department in which they wish to be appointed.
