Admission Requirements and Deadlines
Application Deadline:
Fall: March 15
Spring: September 30
Completed applications are processed throughout the year as they are received. International students who miss the December 15 deadline are required to submit to Temple University an evaluation of their transcript by an approved educational evaluation firm.

From Whom: Letter of recommendation should come from college/university faculty members familiar with academic competence and/or immediate work supervisor.
Coursework Required for Admission Consideration:
No specific courses are required for admission, but two years of work experience in the healthcare industry is highly recommended.
Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline:
No.
Statement of Goals:
Applicants for the M.B.A. program are expected to submit a statement of goals that describes future goals in specific terms. Applicants should avoid use of generalizations or blanket statements. The statement of goals should address how the M.B.A. will assist in achieving the applicant's goals.
Standardized Test Scores:
The GMAT is required. Applicants to the M.B.A. program should ideally have attained a total GMAT score of 600 or higher. Applicants with GMAT scores below 550 are encouraged to re-take the GMAT examination.
Minimum TOEFL score or range of scores needed to be accepted:
230 on the computerized exam or 575 on the paper exam. Students scoring less than 600 on the paper-based TOEFL or 250 on the computer-based TOEFL are required to take the SPEAK test and may be required to take an English course to improve communication skills.
Resume:
A resume is required.
Transfer Credit:
Upper-level graduate credits from an accredited graduate business program may be transferred into the M.B.A. program. The credits must be part of the required degree program at Temple University. To be transferred the grade must be a "B" or better. The Admissions Committee makes recommendations for transferring credits to the Chair of the Department. The maximum number of credits a student may transfer is 6.

All six required business foundation classes and the advanced managerial courses are offered at both the Center City and Fort Washington campuses throughout the year. Upper-level courses are offered at the Center City campus. Courses are also offered online.
Full-Time/Part-Time Status:
Students are required to complete the degree program through classes offered after 4:30 p.m.

Internship: Yes, an internship is required. Each student participates in a three-month, full-time residency, one in administration and one in financial management. These will be at health care related organizations.
Language Examination: No language examination is required.
Additional Requirements:
M.B.A. candidates are expected to take advantage of career services, including workshops and seminars on resume writing, interview techniques, cross-cultural competencies and the workplace, and networking skills needed for seeking employment upon degree completion. Additionally, healthcare students are required to participate in Management Grand Rounds with healthcare companies and industry leaders.
Culminating Events:
Capstone Course Sequence:
Students are required to successfully complete the capstone course. The purpose of the capstone is to ensure that MBA candidates have mastered the skills necessary to conduct business analysis. The capstone is graded in the normal manner by the instuctor.

About the Program
The Fox School of Business and Management offers M.B.A. programs that help develop a solid understanding of business models created by the synergistic forces of globalization, entrepreneurship and information technology. Our approach to graduate education helps develop practical expertise through case analysis, presentations, interaction with business practitioners, and team projects. The Fox School prepares students to step immediately into key management roles in highly specialized fields. The Fox School is the region's second largest business graduate school, with over 1,300 students studying in 16 areas of concentration.

Ranking:
The Fox School of Business and Management holds numerous rankings and is ranked 26th for graduate healthcare management programs. The Fox School is currently working on submitting materials to several media outlets responsible for the general ranking of business schools. We believe that our general M.B.A. programs will be ranked among the top 50.
Accreditation:
Temple has the oldest accredited Healthcare Management program in the region, accredited by both the AACSB and the Accrediting Commission on Education for Health Services Administration. The program provides a comprehensive look at the organization, management, and financing of healthcare organizations. The curriculum was designed to provide students with a practical understanding of how healthcare organizations function and are managed.
Areas of Specialization:
The joint degree offers the breadth of a traditional M.B.A. with the depth of an M.S. program. Students must demonstrate proficiency in basic business administration subjects and research skills before proceeding to advanced work. The business foundation requirements are the same as for the M.B.A. and M.S. programs. To complete the joint degree, students complete all courses for the M.B.A.-Healthcare Management; RMI 513 becomes a required course in this option. In the advanced portion of the M.S. program, students are required to complete the following: ACCT 551; one of the following three courses: FIN 510 or FIN 511, or FIN 512; and HM 596 Advanced Seminar in Healthcare Financial Management.

Research interests of the Fox School faculty are also supported by numerous centers and institutes throughout Temple University.
Interdisciplinary Study:
Students seeking an M.B.A./M.S. in Healthcare Management / Healthcare Financial Management take interdisciplinary courses, including three Accounting courses (550, 551, 552); three Health Administration courses; two Finance courses; one Risk Management and Insurance course; a minimum of 12 s.h. of electives, with at least two electives outside the health care/financial management area. Dual degree students may substitute a thesis for two electives, with departmental approval. Each student participates in a three-month full-time residency, one in administration and one in financial management. These will be at health care related organizations.
Study Abroad:
The Fox School of Business provides graduate level courses during the Summer at its Rome, Italy campus.

Non-Degree Student Policy:
Students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above may take classes on a non-matriculated status. Non-matriculated students can take a maximum of nine credit hours. Any additional courses require the student to be matriculated in a program.
Financing Opportunities
The Fox School has a limited number of scholarships for students with high academic and test scores. Scholarships are offered at the time of acceptance into the Fox School. The Fox School of Business and Management has a limited number of graduate externships for assignments in academic and administrative departments. Work assignments are generally administrative in nature and may include word and data processing. An externship provides up to 20 hours of service per week. Students are required to submit applications directly to the department in which they wish to be appointed.
