Evgeny is a native speaker of Russian born in Khabarovsk, Russia. He graduated from Khabarovsk State Pedagogical University with a degree in English and French as Foreign Languages. He taught English in Linguistic School in Amursk, Russia, where he also was a deputy director.
Evgeny has taught Russian at Davidson College, NC; Russian Language Institute at Bryn Mawr College, and Heritage Learners class at Temple University.
Evgeny is currently a PhD student in the program of Second Language Acquisition in Russian at Bryn Mawr College. His research interests include foreign language pedagogy, the acquisition of Russian as a second language, and applied semiotics. He is especially interested in developing students' conceptual, communicative and cross-cultural competence through the use of authentic video materials.
