Congratulations to Serhiy Plaksin!

The first place winner of the 2013 National Russian Essay Contest.

In this year's contest, there were 956 essays submitted from 57 universities, colleges and institutions across the nation. Each essay was ranked by three judges in Russia.

Spring Fling at Temple University!

Russian Program and Russian Club were among the most enthusiastic participants of the 2012 Spring Fling. We recruited for our Clubs and Programs and advertised our Study Abroad Program!

                   

 

Olympiada

The 7th Annual Delaware Valley High-School Olympiada of Spoken Russian was held on the Temple University Main Campus on March 19th 2013. TU professor and Chair of the Delaware Russian Olympiad Olia Prokopenko, Russian faculty and judges from Temple University and Bryn Mawr College gave a warm welcome to more than 100 high school students from Pennsylvania and New Jersey schools who participated in the competition sponsored by the Temple University Russian Program and the Department of French, German, Italian, and Slavic. The high school students competed in three or four commissions: conversation, civilization, reading and poetry recital. Winners and awards will announced shortly.

The last film in the FGIS 2nd Film Series,

a comedy from Russia "WINDOW TO PARIS" (1993, die. Mamin) will be screened at 3:30pm on Tuesday, April 17, in Anderson Hall 7.


The film will be preceded by a short introduction by Professor Olia Prokopenko (Russian) and Elaine Fultz, a 2007-2009 Moscow Chair, UNO International Labor Organization.
Pizza will provided by the Department of French, German, Italian, and Slavic.

 

Every year the Temple Russian program sponsors events for the larger Temple community and the Delaware Valley Olympiada, a regional competition for students of Russian at the high school level. 

Olympiada!!!

The 6th Delaware Valley High-School Olympiada of Spoken Russian was held on the Temple University Main Campus on March 20. TU professor and Chair of the Delaware Russian Olympiad Olia Prokopenko, Russian faculty and judges from Temple University and Bryn Mawr College gave a warm welcome to more than 100 high school students from Pennsylvania and New Jersey schools who participated in the competition sponsored by the Temple University Russian Program and the Department of French, German, Italian, and Slavic. The high school students competed in three or four commissions: conversation, civilization, reading and poetry recital. John (Jake) Fitzpatrick from Abington Heights High School (teacher: Amy Wojcik) became a 2012 winner among regular learners, while Pavel Predit from Vineland High School (teacher: Vlada Jackson) won in the category of heritage and native speakers.  The winners are heading for the final stage of the National Olympiada of Spoken Russian in Washington, D.C. where the US national team will be formed to compete in the International Russian Olympiada in Moscow, Russia.
