SURGICAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT
Location: Rock Pavilion, 9th Floor
Gross Square Feet: 10,000
Project Completion: 2001
Project Cost: $2 million
Project Description:
Temple University Hospital renovated the top floor of the Rock Pavilion for a new 18 bed surgical intensive care unit to address the expanding critical care volume. The newly renovated wing is state of the art design for intensive care units where all of the rooms surround a large, well-organized nursing station. Patient care is provided in large individual rooms to accommodate the complex equipment associated with intensive care units. Every room is outfitted to bring all lifesaving equipment and procedures to the patient rather than the traditional approach of emergent transport to the operating rooms. Doors to the patient rooms are all glass designed to permit nursing staff good visibility into the rooms and also capable of providing privacy for family members when needed.
