Project
Description: The row buildings on the 1800 Block
of Liacouras Walk South have been vacant for some years. The University has a number of
pressing space needs that can be met by putting these buildings back
into active use. However,
the present configuration of the row houses is inefficient for these
uses. The buildings are a part of a City of Philadelphia Historic
District. Discussions with
the Historical Commission have indicated that consideration will be
given to retaining the building façade on the east and south side of
the structure, while demolishing the rear portions of the buildings to
accommodate new construction. The
University is giving consideration to constructing up to 5 stories while
maintaining and restoring the historic façade to accommodate multiple
uses which may include: health care for students and staff; functions to
be relocated from Curtis Hall to make way for the new Fox School
Building including the Academic Resource Center and the Math/Science
Learning Center; the CLA Advising Center and space for University
functions. |
