Postdoctoral Position Opening
The Center for Natural Resources Development and Protection (NRDP) at Temple University has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral position in the area of hydrogeology to conduct numerical simulations in relation to hydrofracturing. The qualified candidate would have a PhD in hydrogeology, geology, or a related field and be able to conduct numerical simulations using state of the science software. The candidate would need to be knowledgeable of quantification of fractures and heterogeneity in the subsurface along with an ability for understanding geologic processes. The candidate needs to possess a superior ability in computer modeling and mathematical techniques, and a demonstrated ability in writing articles for publication in top journals. Ability of communication with scientists in other environmental fields is desired. The salary is competitive and the position is offered on the Main Campus of Temple University in Philadelphia, a cosmopolitan city with a rich history and culture. The NRDP Center staff are conducting research on projects of national interest including the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the Deep Well Horizon (Gulf) spill, and natural gas extraction from Marcellus Shale. Two modeling positions at the NRDP Center at Temple University
The Center for Natural Resources Development and Protection (NRDP) in the College of Engineering at Temple University has an immediate opening for two positions of modelers in the general area of environmental systems.
The first research position is in the area of hydrogeology and requires conducting numerical simulations of water flow and solute transport in coastal systems. The qualified candidate would have a PhD in Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology or a related field and be able to conduct numerical simulations using existing programs or programs that they develop. They must have a strong understanding of the fundamental of water flow in porous media, both saturated and unsaturated.
The second research position is in the area of Environmental Fluid Mechanics and requires conducting numerical simulations of mixing of fluids in open water. The qualified candidate would have a PhD in Engineering or a related field focused on mixing of fluids, and be able to conduct numerical simulations using state of the science software. The candidate should have a strong understanding of the fundamental of mixing in turbulent flows.
Candidates for each position need to possess a superior ability in computer modeling and mathematical techniques, and a demonstrated ability in writing articles for publication in top journals. They needs to possess the ability for communication with scientists in other environmental fields and to mentor graduate students. The positions are open at all levels (research professor or postdoc) and the corresponding salaries are competitive.
