Jayne Kribbs Drake
Jayne Kribbs Drake arrived at Temple and the English Department from Penn State where she served a number of years as the editor of Volume I (English and American Literature) of the Modern Language Association's Annual International Bibliography. Her scholarly and teaching interests include seventeenth- through nineteenth-century American literature and Literary Research Methods. She has published a number of articles and reviews on pre-twentieth-century American Literature as well as two books: American Literary Periodicals, 1741-1850 and Critical Essays on John Greenleaf Whittier.
Over the years, she has held many administrative posts at Temple, and for some time has been on loan to the College of Liberal Arts Dean's Office as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs. Her passion is academic advising, more particularly her involvement in the National Academic Advising Association NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising. She has been very active in this organization, having served in a number of administrative roles, from a member of the Board of Directors, to Vice President, and then President of the Association. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States and the world giving keynote addresses and serving as a consultant on a number of advising issues, and has published broadly in the areas of faculty advising, advising as teaching, and advising professional development programs.
Dr. Drake is passionate about her students and has been publicly recognized for outstanding teaching, having been honored with the College of Liberal Arts Alumni Association's "Excellence in Teaching" Award and Temple University's Faculty Advisor of the Year.
