Pattie McCarthy is the author of six books of poetry: nulls (2014), from Horse Less Press; and the following five from Apogee Books, Quiet Book (forthcoming, winter 2014/15), Marybones (2012), Table Alphabetical of Hard Words (2010), Verso (2004), and bk 0f (h)rs (2002). She is also the author of over ten chapbooks, including the forthcoming x y z && (Ahsahta Press, 2014) and the recent fifteen genre scenes (eth press, 2014) and scenes from the lives of my parents (Bloof Books, 2013). With her husband, poet Kevin Varrone, McCarthy had a writer's residency at the Elizabeth Bishop House in Great Village, Nova Scotia, in summer 2013. She received a Professional Development Grant from the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage in 2013. In 2011, she was a Pew Fellow in the Arts.
McCarthy is an Assistant Professor (NTT) and has taught at Temple University since 2004. She teaches poetry workshops, multi-genre workshops, Modern and Contemporary Poetry, and Honors Literature/ Reading/Writing. She lives outside Philadelphia with her husband and their three children.
