Graduate: The Job Search

What's New:
  • Dr. Sue-Im Lee is the current Job Placement Officer.

The search for an academic teaching position is the culmination of the stages of a student's preparation for the Ph.D. The job search is a very time-consuming process and needs to begin well before the fall in which you apply for jobs. This page is designed to be a resource for Temple graduate students who are either currently on the job market, or who will be on the job market in the future.

We are in the process of posting the English Department's Job Handbook online--the Job Handbook contains essential information about the application and interviewing process, and the timeline of a job search, as well as sample CVs and cover letters.

If you have refined your CV and have completed your portfolio, you can look for jobs online through the MLA's Job Information List and The Chronicle of Higher Education's Career Network. You can also subscribe to either of these publications and receive printed versions of the Chronicle and the MLA Job List.

We welcome your comments about this page--please contact us if you have suggestions or questions.
