  • We represent an exceptionally diverse student population. Temple University is "The most diverse university" according to the Princeton Review. Because of this, our students are ready to enter the workforce in an emerging global economy.

  • Our students learn in smaller classes-often just 10 or 20 students, which offer more on one on one interchange with the professors.

  • Due to our semester cycles, our students are available year round.

  • We are fully committed to helping our students grow professionally through experiential education.

engineering students participate in a kite-flying competition.

Why should you be a Co-op employer?

  • The chance to improve work productivity and quality at minimal cost.

  • Co-op students offer a greater level of responsibility and productivity than inexperienced graduates and generally remain with employers longer than new entry-level employees.

  • Expand your company's network by becoming a part of the Co-op program.

  • The opportunity to give back to the engineering profession.

Co-op Guidelines for Employers

  • Please contact the Co-op office to discuss student resumes, scheduled interviews and any formal offers.

  • The Co-op program is a collaborative effort between the student, employer and the college. Effective communication is the key component in making sure that the experience is beneficial for everyone involved. Therefore, please let us know of any issues that may arise during the Co-op placement.

  • Co-op assignments must be related to the student's major field of study. A Co-op program should not only enhance, but challenge the skills of the student. Critical thinking and technical competency should be emphasized.

  • Temple University students are on a semester system. The fall semester starts in late august and the spring semester in early January. It is up to you and the student to decide upon an appropriate starting date.

  • Student must work at least 35 hours or more in order to be considered full time. In certain cases, a student may take an evening class if he or she chooses. However, they should not be taking any daytime classes. The co-op program is designed to have students work full time and classes should not interfere with any job responsibilities.

  • Students who fall below a 2.0 GPA will be placed on academic probation and suspended from the Co-op program. Students who fall below a 2.5 will be given a warning. However, if we feel that participating in a co-op is not serving the student well, we will pull the student from the program. The top priority of a student is to do well academically.

  • A monthly visit by the Director of Recruitment and Co-op should be expected.

  • The direct supervisor of the student must fill out an evaluation form towards the end of the semester. This evaluation will count towards their grade. The form can be downloaded from our website.
