Alumni Hard Hat Tour
of Tyler School of Art’s new building on Main Campus


See the state-of-the-art facility’s special features, such as the largest amount of green space on Main Campus, and learn about this dynamic environment for students and faculty.

Each behind-the-scenes tour will last approximately an hour and a half, followed by a reception with light refreshments and an update on the college from Dean Keya Sadeghipour at the College of Engineering building.

The new Tyler School of Art building will be complete in the fall, so don’t miss this unique opportunity!

Dr. Marino discussed how innovative methods are needed to improve the quality of urban waterways, especially those impacted by discharges from combined sewer overflows. To this end, a treatment system using geotextiles as filtration media has been investigated to capture suspended and colloidal solids from the waste stream prior to entering the watercourse.

Mr. Moscovici discussed the significant ecological impacts resulting from the construction of roads through previously roadless areas and how these impacts can be minimized or mitigated.

The Comcast Center, in Center City Philadelphia, is the tallest building between New York City and Chicago.  Mr Abbruzzo addressed the opportunities and challenges to the designers and engineers involved in its construction.

1/30/2008 - Harry Allen, EPA Environmental Response Team

Mr. Allen spoke on his experience as an environmental scientist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Environmental Response Team (ERT) which works to remediate and limit environmental damage to air, land, and water, and evaluate threats to human health.

The Green Cities-Clean Water program uses land, waterway, infrastructure and sustainability practices in support of policies and programs for the protection of drinking water supply, the propagation and protection of fish and wildlife habitat, and in support of the region’s green development practices, recreation, ecotourism and sustainable riverfront re-development efforts.

The use of alternative fuels is becoming more popular. The production of these fuels is a technical and economic challenge. One potential alternative source is from bacterial production of ethanol. Mr. Lokken will address his research findings in this area.

"Controlling PCBs In The Delaware Estuary"

Delaware River Basin Commission

Delaware River sediments have long been known to be contaminated with PCB. With the advent of more precise analytical methods, the Delaware River Basin Commission has implemented a monitoring program which has identified ongoing sources of PCB's. This information is used to develop a TMDL for the Delaware River aimed at reducing the loading of PCB's.
