Undergraduate Student Research

The College of Engineering encourages undergraduate students to participate in research activities. The undergraduate years are an ideal time to get involved; the experience of working in a laboratory with other undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty will not only help you to gain an appreciation of the application of theory to practice, but can help with graduate school applications.  Students who publish will find that research experiences help in finding jobs too.

Interested and talented undergraduate students should contact a member of the faculty who is involved in some research area of interest. Alternatively, students can contact the College of Engineering's Research Office for more information.

Students with strong academic backgrounds have opportunities to participate in paid research internship programs during the academic year, or during summer after their sophomore or junior year. Selected students can be active in one of the College's several research laboratories, or apply for support under one of several Undergraduate Research Internship programs funded by US federal agencies.
