Educational Psychology Program (PSE)

The mission of the Educational Psychology Program in the Department of Psychological Studies in Education is to expand, transmit and integrate theory, research and practice regarding learning, cognition, human development and instructional technology as these processes apply to educational processes and practices. The Program is interdisciplinary has a strong theoretical and research orientation characterized by a continuous interplay between theory and practice.

Students who major in Educational Psychology typically have one of several professional goals which may include:

  1. College/University professors of Educational Psychology or Special Education;
  2. Instructional technology specialists;
  3. Trainers in corporate, government or medical settings;
  4. Educational specialists in positions requiring skills in research design, applied statistics, and testing/measurement;
  5. Teachers (at the elementary and secondary level) with a strong theoretical/research base in Psychology and the behavioral sciences;
  6. Program evaluators.

Degree Programs

The Educational Psychology Program offers two graduate degrees -- the Educational Psychology M.Ed. and the Educational Psychology Ph.D. -- each with specific areas of concentrations. Students may matriculate in either a part-time or full-time capacity except during Ph.D. residency period.
