ABC Program at Temple

Normally it takes two to four years to earn principal certification. But with the Temple University College of Education Accelerated Blended Certificate Program, it is as convenient and easy as ABC. Educators interested in being certified as a principal for K-12 can do so in little more than a year while still working full time as a teacher or school administrator.

The ABC program involves online course work during one school year bracketed by in-class work during two summers at any of three Temple campuses: Center City Philadelphia, Ft. Washington or Harrisburg. There is no application fee, and GRE or MAT scores are not required.

This program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as meeting the academic requirements for the standards set forth for the school Principal’s Certificate K-12.     

  • Credit can be given by your assigned advisor for previous courses taken in a related graduate area
  • No application fee.
  • Students will not be required to take GRE’s or MAT’s.
  • 50% of course work done ONLINE.
  • The sessions are accelerated.
  • The program meets the State requirements for additional certificates.

A. Administrative Core (15 hours required)

B. Specialization Electives: 6 semester hours required in consultation with your assigned advisor. Student is select two courses among the following list:

  • EA 5661 PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION (ONLINE)
  • EA 5615 GENDER ISSUES IN EDUC
  • EA 5641 FINANCE AND BUSINESS MGT (ONLINE)
  • EA 5651 SCHOOL PLANT (ONLINE)
  • EA 5671 PUBLIC RELATIONS
  • EA 5771 SCHOOL LAW (ONLINE)
  • EA 5715 INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP (ONLINE)
  • EA 5746 MGT SCH FISCAL AFFAIRS (ONLINE)
  • EA 8785 COLLECTIVE NEGOTIATIONS (ONLINE)

C. General Electives:

  • Sup. Cert 601 Assessment of Curriculum and Instruction
